If you are starting out on any type of mathematical or scientific career in Ireland you need to have a methodical and analytical mind. While formulas can be learnt and complex maths equations done with the help of a computer or calculator, you need to have a mathematical bent which is not found in everybody.
Jobs which involve the need for science or mathematics in Ireland can vary from being in banking or the payday loans business such as loansireland.ie, right through to training as a computer programmer, an actuary, accountant or analyst.
Maths is not everybody's cup of tea and if you are maths minded you have a head start in many different careers, many of them very lucrative. Computers will never replace the human brain completely so the ability to handle and analyse figures is well sought after.
It is not so much the ability to do the physical calculations in your head, as that is not needed most of the time, but rather the methodical approach and understanding of equations and formulas that is so in demand. A good grade at A. level maths will go a long way in either getting you on the university course of your choice or starting in the career of your dreams.
It is also a very transferable skill so will help you all the way through life.
